Anne E. Fung, M.D.

Anne Fung, MD is a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist specializing in medical diseases of the macula, retina and vitreous. After completing an ophthalmology residency at Stanford University, Dr. Fung pursued fellowship training in Macular and Retinal Diseases at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami under Philip Rosenfeld MD PhD, Carmen Puliafito MD MBA, and Janet Davis MD. There she served as an investigator in clinical trials of Lucentis (ranibizumab), Avastin (bevacizumab), and Macugen (pegaptanib) for Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD). She presented the results of the PrONTO trial - an unmasked study of Lucentis treatment for AMD - at the American Society for Retinal Specialists meeting in Montreal, July 2005.
At Pacific Eye Associates, Dr. Fung cares for the comprehensive ophthalmologic needs of her patients, as well as specializing in macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and other diseases of the retina. Dr. Fung is able to provide the most current medical therapies including Macugen, Avastin, Lucentis and various laser treatments as she considers them appropriate for each patient.
In addition to her clinical activities, Dr. Fung has contributed to the medical literature in the areas of anti-VEGF therapies for macular degenerations, retinal pigment cell transplantation, and contrast sensitivity evaluations in cataract patients. She is a member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and serves as the Alumni Director for Stanford University Department of Ophthalmology.
