Lama Assi Salah, MD, MPH
Dr. Lama Assi is a board-eligible ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist. She is trained in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma, including lasers, minimally invasive surgery (MIGS) as well as traditional glaucoma surgery. She is also specialized in cataract surgery, helping patients achieve the best possible visual outcome through tailored lens selection—including advanced and premium lenses – matched to her patients’ individual needs and vision goals.

Expertise
Dr. Assi specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma. Her care covers the full range of treatment, from medications and laser procedures to minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) and traditional glaucoma surgery. She also performs cataract surgery and helps patients choose the right lens, including advanced and premium intraocular lens options.
With her training in epidemiology and public health from Johns Hopkins, Dr. Assi focuses on early detection and plans treatment with each patient’s long-term vision in mind.
Awards and Memberships
Dr. Assi received the Lebanese Medical Training Leadership Award at the American University of Beirut, which funded her research fellowship at the Wilmer Eye Institute. During residency at Louisiana State University, she earned the Outstanding Research Award. The Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation also named her a Dom Carlone Fellow for her community work.
She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Glaucoma Society.
