Are You A Candidate

Are you a candidate? Take the LASIK Candidacy Self Evaluation Test

LASIK San FranciscoLASIK laser vision correction surgery is now available to patients with nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and/or astigmatism. LASIK is not an effective method for treating presbyopia, which is vision degeneration due to aging of the eye.

A good candidate typically has a stable vision prescription and good overall eye health. The patient is usually young enough where cataract formation has not occurred (cataracts are not uncommon in the 60’s) and is old enough for the eyes and prescription to have stopped changing significantly (typically 21 to 25 years of age). Women who are pregnant should typically wait for a few months after delivery or nursing before undergoing LASIK. Be sure to inform your doctor of any medications you may be taking as they may cause changes or fluctuation in your vision.

Not everyone is a candidate for the LASIK surgery. Each individual person has extremely unique eyes. After a thorough evaluation and testing of your cornea, the doctors will be able to determine if LASIK is right for you. This thorough diagnostic evaluation is the first step in creating a positive outcome for your best possible visual outcome or personal best vision.
