My optometrist, Cindy Szeto OD, referred me to Pacific Eye Associates when my cataract had grown to the size that it needed attention by a medical doctor. I was first seen by Dr. Karen Oxford, who thought I might also have glaucoma, so she referred me to Dr. Scott So for further evaluation. Sure enough, I had low tension glaucoma as well. This is an unusual kind of glaucoma that occurs even when the eye pressure (checked by optometrists) is normal, as mine had been for years. Fortunately for me, a new medical device (iStent) had been approved in February 2013 to treat this condition, and even more fortunately for me, Dr. So was involved in all the pre-approval clinical-trials and already had lots of experience with it. So, off I went for two surgeries in January 2014 and now I'm good as new. Along the way, I was so impressed with Pacific Eye, which is owned by a group of board-certified ophthamologists. It shows -- every doctor is an expert in his/her field, and the staff is efficient, smart, and very very nice. The front desk staff was helpful and cordial. The doctor's staff that I worked with the most -- Esmeralda, Dana and Steven -- became trusted friends in just a few visits. I always felt valued when I was at Pacific Eye. Believe me, you owe it to your eyesight to have your annual eye exam done here (they may find something that needs treatment that you don't know about), and certainly if there is a problem with your eyes, you must avail yourself of the expertise of this group. I will be eternally grateful to all of them for their care and concern. And their patient for life.

I found Dr. Seiff to be great and highly recommended among medical people. He is highly skilled and experienced. If you have to wait, notice that he does not rush you. I've rarely had to wait. He is straightforward. I appreciated that. Unrealistic expectations are unfair all around. He has never been arrogant!
You should see my skin transplant. Who cares about all the above when what you need is an excellent result. I have a scar. But it looks good two weeks out and I expect
it will get only better.
Contact me if you are facing a skin graft.

I just returned from a visit with Dr. So. His office is busy, the staff efficient and friendly, and Dr. So, himself, is smart, personable, patient, thorough and charming. I left with good news and that makes things even better, but I would totally recommend him for anyone seeking professional eye care and will be seeing him again next year, for sure.

My introduction to Pacific Eye Associates didn't start under the best of circumstances--I got something caught between my eye and contact lens one weekend and ended up with a scratched cornea that hurt like a mother-effer. After digging around the Aetna site (with one functioning eye) on Monday morning, I called Pacific Eye as soon as they opened and was in the office seeing Dr. Heiden by noon the same day. Yes, it's a busy place and you might have to wait a bit to see a doctor, but I think that comes with the territory when you go to a successful practice. Dr. Heiden is a to-the-point dude, but I always felt like he was attentive and invested in fixing that eyeball. He insisted I come back the next day to check over how things were healing, and then again after using eyedrops for a week to clear me for contacts again. This level of attention sold me on the place.

I've since seen Dr. King twice for my annual contact lens exam and it's been great. I've been to a few optometrists that feel more like sales people instead of health care providers--Dr. King's not that guy. Each time I've had appointments in the morning and I've been in and out in about an hour.

I've always had an awesome experience with the office staff, too. They managed to correctly bill my medical insurance for the visits with Dr. Heiden, and they've made the whole annual exam billing with VSP completely effortless. Yeah, one of the opticians tried to sell me a pair of glasses that I probably didn't need (especially when I'm considering LASIK within the next year or so) but took no for an answer and just ordered more contacts instead.

TL;DR - Solid place that fixes you up in a pinch and is also great for general ongoing eye care.

Several weeks ago, my mom had her eye exam with Dr. Lin to evaluate her cataracts. He was friendly and patient with my mom during the examination. His office scheduled the surgery to be performed by Dr. Lin for today.

At CPMC this morning, Dr. Lin checked on my mom as she was being prepared for the procedure. He confirmed the procedure and ensured her of the process. When my mom returned to the patient room after her procedure, Dr. Lin came by and stated that my mom did well and the procedure was successful and that he would see us at the upcoming follow-up appointment.

Dr. Lin is a personable doctor with his nice bedside manners and reassurances to the patient and family members.
