Daylight Saving Time Ends This Sunday!

A clock sitting on a table

While many us let our smartphones do the work, everyone still feels the physical pain of the dreaded time change.  Thankfully this Sunday we fall back which means we gain one more hour of sleep!  #Win But #sadface for the darkness when we leave work.  Below are a few healthy ways to deal with the end of daylight saving time.

1) Morning Work Out

Since 7 am is the new 6 am, set your alarm an hour earlier (okay…let’s be honest here, while no one is actually setting their alarm an hour earlier, you might find yourself up an hour earlier due to the time change).  Use the extra hour to a fit in a morning workout.  A morning working will pump those endorphins and start your day right.  Or if you’re not a morning workout person, use the morning light for some “me time”, email a friend, or knock out some items on your to-do list.

2) Take a Walk at Lunch

Yes, we all know that the end of DST means shorter days.  You leave your desk and it’s already dark out.  If you find yourself missing the sun, take a walk at lunch.  15 to 20 minutes of fresh air and sunlight can help perk up your mood.

3) Creative Dinners

Chances are you and your family (or roommates) will be spending more time indoors.  Make those mundane nights more fun by planning dinners like Make Your Own Pizza Night, Build A Burrito Night or play board games.

4) Drive like a Pro

Longer nights presents challenges for all drivers.  Headlights glaring into your eyes.  Halos around headlights.  To minimize the challenges of driving at night, adjust your speed so the reach of your headlights hit the road instead of the next car’s bumper.  Avoid being blinded by oncoming high beams by looking down towards the right side of the road to avoid being blinded.  You should be able to see the edge of the lane or the painted edge line and stay on course until the vehicle passes.  If you see halos around headlights try eye drops.  Most likely your eyes are dry and all you need is some rewetting drops.  If the halos are a bother and eye drops are not enough, then make an appointment with one of our doctors.  You may be suffering from dry eyes or cataracts.  Make an appointment with us today online or by calling us: 415-923-3007.
